Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September 21 1983) is an American actress who is best known for her roles as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television show Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. After the divorce of her parents her parents separated, she moved to Worthington, Ohio to live in Los Angeles. In 2001, despite her difficulties with money, she was able to secure her first big role in the online video series Rachel's Room as the main character. Her portrayal as Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the T.V. film Murder In Greenwich in 2002 earned her a nomination for a Young Artist Award. In 2004 Grace was chosen to play Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost on which she acted as a principal character for the initial two seasons winning a Screen Actors Guild Award shared by the entire cast. Grace wanted to focus on film following her role as Tom Welling's character on The Fog, in 2005. She starred on the screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in both 2007 and Taken (2008) with Liam Neeson. She reprised the role in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the leading role in Alice In Malice in Wonderland a modern adaptation of Lewis Carroll's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised her role as Shannon in Lost, including the finale. She also appeared in the sixth episode of Californication. The role she plays is Faith, a groupie who serves as a model for celebrities and attracts the eye of Hank Moody (David Duchovny). Gyllenhaal is a part of the family and is the elder cousin of Jake Gyllenhaal. Her first appearances were in films starring her father when he was an adolescent. With her brother, she also appeared on the screen in Donnie Darko (2000). Then she appeared on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal's leading roles in Secretary, the romantic comedy-drama erotico and Sherrybaby (a drama) received her nominations for Golden Globe Award. The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008 after many highly successful movies, such as World Trade Center (2006), brought Gyllenhaal greater fame. In the wake of her performance that was a hit as a mother who is not married in Crazy Heart (2009), she was awarded an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. The following years she was a part of comedies and dramatic films: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012. Other characters include as a secret agent for the Secret Service in White House Down 2013 as well as a singer in Frank 2014 and also in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she is the lead character. Gyllenhaal made her debut as a director and writer in 2021, with her psychological drama The Lost Daughter. For this film she was awarded with the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and received nominations for the Academy Award.
